Free WordPress Themes
Hi everyone.
Just to let you all know I am now making WordPress themes and offering them for free to anyone who wants to download them. The design and construction is aimed at photographers or those displaying images but realistically anyone can use them. Have a look at my Free WordPress Themes page located here.
At the moment I have uploaded two themes for free use and I am already working on two more.
I hope you enjoy these themes and hopefully get some good use out of them. Keep an eye on my Website/ Twitter/ Facebook/ RSS Feed for future themes and updates as I aim to release a new free theme or a theme update every fortnight. If you are in the sharing mood please let your friends and followers know about these free themes on your Facebook or Twitter or other social networking websites/accounts.
Introducing Fotoireland.com
This was posted on one of my sites and I just said I’d give it an extra boost by posting here as well.

Attention all photographers, photography enthusiasts and anyone with a camera. Introducing fotoireland.com, a website that intends to ‘promote Ireland through photography’.
How does it work?
Two ways. You promote your own photography and in turn, your county. Fotoireland.com is a forum based website where you register a free account, select the forum/county you want to post into, post a new thread with your photography that links back to your website, blog, Flickr, Bebo account, anything really.
So the idea is when someone is looking to come to Kilkenny, for a biased example, they can just look in the Kilkenny forum and see where’s good, what’s popular and how it exactly looks. It promotes the county and your own photography.
And it’s all free and non-profit.
You can find the forum here:

New website launch: Foto Ireland
Today I finally opened up a new forum: Foto Ireland.com. It will be completely non-profit and ad free.
Foto Ireland was created to help and promote Ireland through the photography of it’s members.
It’s not just for visitors to Ireland.
Many times I’ve asked people “Where’s a good scenic place I can bring my camera?” or “Where’s a nice place I can go and relax without the everyday hustle and bustle of the city?” Questions like that not always guaranteed an answer. The truth is, in Ireland there are literally thousands of these places. But not one person know them all. That’s where this forum comes into play. The idea is everyone posts photos of places they like, hidden places in their county, places they explored when visiting another county. The idea is to get that knowledge out into the public domain. So, when the next time I’m passing through, say, Meath. All I have to do is look at the ‘Meath’ forum and see where Foto Ireland members have been, and what interests me.
It will be also a large attraction for tourists, who say, were undecided where they could go. Wanting to visit a location full of history, not really well known, somewhere they could bring a camera, take photographs and bring those memories home with them to remind them of that special place.
How does it all work?
You can start by registering an account here. The rules on posting on threads and creating your own are here.
You then select whatever category you want to post into. For example, if it is a photo with of a Carlow landscape, you would place the photo in the ‘Carlow’ forum. On how to post an image check out here.
What will make this forum tick is discussion. So, allow discussion on your photos and discuss others. Share and share alike.
So, check out the forum and let me know what you think.
Online Kilkenny Forum Launch

Kilkenny always had a very distinct lack of forums, where it’s members can meet and chat, debate and agree about anything they want. There are a few forums out there in Kilkenny but they tend to be dedicated to a certain area. So Online Kilkenny decided to create their own forums. The idea is to provide an interactive experience for it’s members.

What can I do?
Anything really. You can talk about club and county hurling, recent matches. What promotions are in local shops. Share photos of Kilkenny. Talk about the Kilkenny music scene. Politics. Agree. Disagree. Ask questions. Anything you want. If you are a business you can advertise there for free. Contact them for more details.

Best Paddy’s week ever for Irish sport?
The two big talking points for last week for Irish people is undoubtedly the Irish rugby Grand Slam and Bernard Dunne’s WBA Super Bantamweight World Title victory, both last Saturday.
Ironically, last week was Paddy’s week too.
St. Patrick’s Day is a big day for us Irish, just look at the turn outs for the parade, the symbolism, the pride. Admittedly, the stereotypical drinking sessions in the pubs were far from as traditionally popular on Paddy’s night opposed to previous years.
That being said, pubs in general have been exceptionally quiet this year so far.
The Grand Slam.
Back on track. Saturday was a momentous day for all us Irish sport fans.
Firstly, we all knew the Grand Slam in the Six Nations was perfectly within reach. We all knew it was highly possible for us to attain. But we all had this niggling little voice in the back of our heads that outlined our fears and suspicions.
We all knew what Wales were capable of. Maybe, if Jones had scored that last penalty. Maybe, if Wales hadn’t squandered so many lineouts, the outcome might not have been the same. In the end, ultimately, Ireland deserved the match and The Grand Slam. In my unprofessional opinion, that is.
Whilst the match was prone to many errors and silly penalties, we all witnessed a great physical match with clever plays and equally clever players.

The World Champion.
Last Saturday night was a great night for Irish boxing with wins for Katie taylor, Andy Murray, the aptly named Jim Rock, Andy Lee and of course Bernard Dunne.
Bernard Dunne finally won his WBA Super Bantamweight World Title, despite Cordoba being favoured by betting offices, television pundits and a large amount of Dunne’s own fans. Dunne prevailed, though, in style.
Bernard showed far more power in his punches than ever before. He was composed, level-headed and wisely chose his battles. Round 5 was a round he’d want to forget after getting into a brawl with Cordoba, getting knocked down twice, and being on the ropes and on the proverbial backfoot. All in all, round 5 stunk of the Martinez fight.
Dunne pulled through in the following rounds and reinstated himself as the great Irish boxing hope.
Also, a big shout out has to go to all the fans who were there that night in the O2 Arena. What an amazing and unique atmosphere it must have been. I would have given anything, in hindsight, to have been there.
Here’s a video showing Dunne’s last three rounds V Cordoba.
This is A MUST WATCH.
St Patrick’s Festival Competition… with pix.ie
Check it out peeps…
From pix.ie
As some of you already know, Pixie has been working with the organisers of the Irish St Patrick’s Festival on a huge project to help document this year’s festival in photos from the perspective of those attending. The aim is to invite everyone bringing their camera to this year’s events to contribute their photos to the official St Patrick’s Festival group so that the experience can be shared with people from all over the world.
To make things a little more interesting, we’ve created a competition (more details to follow) and will be selecting three lucky winners whose photos capture the spirit of the festival. Canon have very kindly offered to sponsor some of the best prizes we’ve seen in a photo competition and with a total value of just under €1,800, these are very generous prizes!!!
- 1st Prize – Canon EOS 1000D digital SLR camera, Selphy ES3 photo printer, 150 Euro photography training course, adding memory card and photo printing paper. Total value €1,050
